The first thing to do is to think about your learning needs and learn about how Vision can support you. When you decide to enroll in the program, you will have chosen a Resource Consultant (RC) to help you with your decision making, documentation of learning, budgeting, discovery of resources and more. There are several RC's available to work with learners in each of the three Home and Community Programs. One of the first things to do is talk with a Resource Consultant (RC) about your educational philosophies and needs.

There is some initial paperwork to do as part of the enrollment process. The following forms should be completed to include in your learner notebook, which is kept at the Vision office:

Together with your RC you will be working on your learning plan for the year and completing all the necessary paperwork to officially be part of this program. Click here for DOC PDF for more information about creating a learning plan.

Please read the information carefully and submit the necessary information to your Resource Consultant.

The Parent/Guardian’s Role

The VISION Home and Community Program is for parents who want to participate actively in their child’s education while still respecting and supporting the child’s right to choose and be heard. We encourage all parents/guardians to participate in all aspects of forming and activating a learning plan. We encourage checking in frequently with your child and doing what it takes to have an active and meaningful relationship with the Resource Consultant. Networking with other participants in the VISION program is also helpful. The more information and tools you have as a parent, the better job you’ll do. You deserve support and recognition.

And please, get involved. VISION is a continually evolving program. We all have a lot to learn. If something doesn’t work for you, let us know and help us create a solution.
